Sheriff's Report
Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of calls this past week, including:
November 3--10:38 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the Wahkiakum Family Practice Clinic to aid a man with cuts on his arms; the patient was taken to a hospital. 2:46 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the clinic to aid a woman with breathing difficulty; the patient was taken to a hospital. 7:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the Columbia View Care Center to aid a woman possibly having a stroke; the patient was taken to a hospital. 7:50 p.m. A Westend resident reported a truck had run off Altoona-Pillar Rock Road and was smashed up; no one was around; the driver had walked to a family residence to report the accident.
November 4--11:11 a.m. A man reported sustaining an accidental gunshot wound to the leg in the Oak Point area; he decided to drive himself to a hospital and a Cowlitz County deputy made contact.
November 5--7:13 a.m. A motorist reported an intoxicated woman driving a gold car; the report was relayed to the state patrol; at 7:17 a.m., another person reported the woman had hit a guard rail at Milepost 43 and run another vehicle off the road. 7:34 a.m. A caller from the Elochoman Valley reported a person was herding elk with a motorcycle; the call was referred to state Fish and Wildlife. 7:32 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported being harassed.
November 6--7:49 a.m. A Middle Valley resident reported that someone had stolen license plates. 11:06 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the care center to aid a woman with bad pain; the patient was taken to a hospital. 7:16 p.m. A hunter reported being trapped behind a gate in the Abe Creek area; an officer assisted the hunter in finding his way out.
November 7--1:21 a.m. The state patrol responded to a non-injury accident on SR 4 west of Grays River. 7:20 a.m. A caller reported people had been hunting in a closed area; a fish and game agent was notified. 10:22 a.m. A Westend resident reported someone had stolen her cow heads; a deputy was advised. 10:37 a.m. A Grays River resident reported seeing an unmanned jet ski drifting down the Grays; the owner was notified. 1:05 p.m. Wahkiakum High School reported a student had assaulted another student. 3:23 p.m. A motorist reported a one-car, non injury accident on SR 4 east of Cathlamet; the state patrol was notified. 4:19 p.m. A caller reported someone was illegally cutting wood on state land; a deputy investigated.
November 8--9:22 a.m. A caller reported duck hunters were using illegal decoys off Coffee Pot Island. 9:56 a.m. A State Road resident, Puget Island, reported shot fired by duck hunters was hitting the caller’s residence; the fish and game agent was notified. 2:52 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported being harassed. 4:36 p.m. A caller in Skamokawa reported two men, one intoxicated, were arguing over whether the intoxicated man could drive. 5:51 p.m. A caller said a man at a Rosedale business had fallen from a tree earlier in the day and was having trouble breathing but didn’t want an ambulance; the Cathlamet ambulance was dispatched and took the person to a hospital for treatment of a possibly punctured lung. 9:53 p.m. Ferry “Wahkiakum” crew reported a Longview resident had moored a boat to the float at the Puget Island ramp, and the boat was in the way of the ramp; the owner was contacted.
November 9--2:28 a.m. A Puget Island man reported being assaulted and that the assailant had broken a window off the victim’s car and scratched the body with a key; an officer investigated. 11:22 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported someone had punched out a side mirror of a car during the night; an officer investigated. 1:14 p.m. A caller reported that a hunter had been shot up the 520 line; the caller called again soon afterward and said the apparent victim wasn’t shot, he was just celebrating having shot a large elk bull. 5:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Rosedale residence to aid a woman with sharp chest pain; the patient was taken to a hospital. 6:15 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the care center to aid a woman with chest pain; the patient was taken to a hospital.
November 10--2:55 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Ingalls Road residence to aid a person who was very ill; the patient was taken to a hospital.
